Outreach
Campus Christians understands that we need to meet together with other Believers for worship and encouragement, but we also know that we are called to be an outreach to our campus and community. We provide a number of ministry opportunities each month.
Mission Trips
Over Winter Break a team of 15 traveled to Matamoras, Mexico to help build homes, provide relief work for those in need and encourage the Believers of that community. Over Spring Break we will be traveling to Pittsburgh, PA to help with some inner-city projects including volunteering at a homeless mission, working with after-school care for disadvantaged youth, volunteering in a women’s shelter and more.
Community Outreach
We also realize that our very own community is in need. Some of our students have volunteered at local shelters and community groups. In November and December we collected hundreds of blankets, coats and other warm clothing for those in need as well as aiding many families that were in need at the holidays with food and other necessities. Throughout the Spring we will have various weekend ministry trips where we will go locally and help in shelters and other faith-based relief organizations.
Hot Dog Handout
One of the other main outreaches we provide each week is called Hot Dog Handout. Every Friday night during the school year a group of 15-20 students meet to handout free hot dogs to students that have been (for the most part) drinking at parties near campus. There is no pressure with the hot dog and everything is completely free to those that stop by. Nearly 500 hotdogs are handed out on a typical night and this ministry opportunity has led to many conversations with students that are searching for the answers and their place in life and need someone to talk to.
Why we love Hot Dog Handout...
"I feed hot dogs on Fridays because of Matthew 25:34-40. This passage talks about when we feed those who are hungry we are feeding Jesus. Getting out and feeding free hot dogs is my way of feeding the hungry and showing Christ's love. I also enjoy the company of those who help serve."
- Matt Lamb, Senior Macksville, KS
"Christ did everything for us, so it only makes sense for us to do what we can for others. I have heard several people we serve call us 'life savers.' To me, that proves that we are being Jesus-like by passing out hot dogs. And the smiles and enthusiasm people have when recieving free hot dogs make it a blast."
- Stephen Gedert, Sophomore Fresno, CA

"I pass out hotdogs on Fridays because of Mark 10:45 'For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.' We were made to serve and though passing out hotdogs does not compare to giving up our lives, we are planting seeds. To me that's awesome! And it is so much FUN!!!"
- DeAira Juhl, Junior Wathena, KS
